Confirmed Catholics who have completed the Eucharistic Minister training and have been commissioned, help distribute the Body & Blood of Christ during Mass. They serve by invitation of the pastor. They must be in good standing with the Church.

 Being an altar server allows youth of our parish to get involved in the mass. Children can be trained after they receive their First Holy Communion, and they can serve through high school.

 Proclaim the Sacred Scriptures at Mass and other celebrations

 Prepares for the celebration of Mass. This includes coordination of lectors, extraordinary ministers, and all preparation of vessels, etc. This includes weddings, First Friday Devotions, funerals and Holy Days of Obligation. They also clean and put items away after mass.

 Parishioners who want to give a warm welcome before and after masses and help pass out bulletins. Individuals and families most welcome. Once a month preferred (may be less depending on volunteers).

 Men and Women and children who welcome the faithful at Church doors, assist with seating, offertory collection and procession gifts, communion processions. To serve all who come to worship by preserving Usher Ministry the reverence of mass.

The SJV Soundboard Ministry sits at the controls of the sound system of the church during liturgies and various services. Persons with a good ear for blending sounds are perfect candidates for this ministry.   New members get to pair up with an existing minister to learn the basics, and more detailed training is available as members grow with the ministry.  

 Laundering and ironing for Jesus, caring for the Altar linens, purificators and corporals used at Mass

 Welcomes children, youth and adults to a variety of ensembles. We welcome adults, children and instrumentalists. The Children's Choir is active only during the school year.

Handles the decorating of the church for the various liturgical seasons and days. We hang banners and drapings of cloth, arrange flowers and plant and trees, etc.

Volunteers are always welcome to help and the call will go out when special help is needed.

Confirmation occurs during the RE process for high school students and during RCIA for adults

Is a program that works to support Catholics who are interested in returning to the Church. During the Landings program, a group of active Catholics, who have also “returned” themselves, join with others to share and explore our faith.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) names the process by which interested persons gradually become members of the Catholic Church. Sponsors are active Catholics that act as companions to those going through the RCIA process. Those who are interested in either being a sponsor or a catechist should contact

Provides religious education to help prepare for the Sacraments. The Religious Education program is staffed by lay catechists who share their faith with others in order to guide their growth. Training and catechist workshops are provided to enable the catechists to guide students in the best way possible.

VBS is a 1 week summer camp to educate and encourage children in the faith and to involve children in serving others through their faith. There is always a need for both adult and high school-aged volunteers.

The Family Life Committees create, promote, and foster happy, healthy holy families and individuals through the outpouring of prayerful support, loving concern, and education opportunities by use of Diocesan and community programs and Christ centered living.

Grief is a universal language. Loss is something we all come to understand. But working through the experience is not always something we can or should do alone. The Our Lady of Mercy Bereavement Ministry is a ministry of support and healing for those who’ve suffered the death of a friend or family member. People are drawn to this ministry for different reasons. Some have lost someone dear; others share their experience in grief counseling with those who are living a loss.

Works in partnership with our Pastor and Deacons to support parishioners planning to be married in the Catholic Church. Programs may include Together In God’s Love and Natural Family Planning.

Offers a variety of programs and resources throughout the year which foster a spirit of love and commitment between married couples.

Supports and encourages couples to work through crisis points with faith. To assist, the Diocese provides programs such as Retrouvaille (couples retreat), and marriage/family counseling

Provides support and resource information for individuals divorced or separated, by referring you to support resources or information on annulments

Provides parents with resources on raising faith-filled children in today's world.

Enriching the lives of Young Adults after high school to age 35, through fellowship and faith sharing.

We currently do not have an active ministry at the parish level, and Young Adults are participating with the Williamson County Catholic Young Adults group, based out of St. Helen's. See the link noted above.

A liaison that works with men and women of the parish that are discerning a call to serve God as Priests or Religious. Coordinates seminarian visits and works with the Diocesan Vocation Director.

Provides financial assistance to those less fortunate with paying utility bills, rent etc from money donated through the Black Bag Collection.  Volunteers needed to assist with interviews, handle paperwork, verify eligibility.

The Gabriel Project is a ministry of support to any mother in the community who is experiencing a crisis pregnancy. It is a ministry of presence and support. Gabriel “angels” work directly with expectant mothers.

Pregnant? Need Help? “Protecting the unborn… supporting the expectant mother.” “The Gabriel Angel” (the messenger) keeps the Pastor and Church informed about the well-being and needs of the mother and child. The role of the church is to support the mother in love and prayer and to assist the mother and child in their specific needs. This act epitomizes the whole Church living out the Works of Mercy, both corporal and spiritual. For example: The mother comes to the church in need of a crib, housing or clothing. The Gabriel project makes the need known so everyone in the whole church can respond to that need.

This pantry contains items that people cannot get with food stamps. Parishioners may donate these items each week by putting them in the Parish Social Ministry Pantry barrel in the Narthex of the church. Volunteers are needed to work in the pantry.

Help Senior Citizens to remain in their own homes! Volunteers needed to help drive senior citizens to appointments in Round Rock and the greater Austin area. Also have need for Office Help, Handyman, One time Event volunteers, Computer help, Volunteer Visitor/Care Caller.

(N.O.G) Neighborhood Outreach Groups connect St John Vianney parishioners who live in the same neighborhoods, plan social and spiritual gatherings within their local areas and welcome new parishioners through phone calls, visits and invitations to parish events.

Twenty-four hour adoration is held in the Day Chapel on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. Please plan to spend at least one hour a month in Adoration before our Lord who is present in the Blessed Sacrament.

This group provides an outlet for those parishoners to pursue their faith intellectually as a topical reading group.

Combines Bible reading and study, small group faith sharing and lecture and prayer in an informal setting as a means to study the Bible with other Catholics and discuss how we can apply the scripture teachings to today’s life in our parish. All who are interested in learning more about the Bible are welcome.

This is a 26 week interactive Bible study focused on the development of men in the modern world. It combines the best research from science with the teachings of the Catholic faith and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of authentic men capable of transforming society.

Provides intercessory prayer for the parish community.

The Gardens Ministry maintains the landscaped areas around the church, parking lot and rectory. Parishioners who join this ministry weed and feed, plant and prune. The ministry sponsors Saturday workdays in the spring and fall when we work together in the gardens and on the grounds. We also have a program called "Adopt A Plot" to let parishioners choose a large or small plot to tend during the year. No gardening experience is needed, just a willingness to work in the soil and beautify the grounds at our church. You can participate on the workdays or on a regular basis.

Provides updates to Church facilities. Gives advice and reports on facilities to Church Administration when requested.  Using a checklist for basic maintenance. Are you a handyman? Can you fix stuff?

The St. Matthew’s Ministry counts the collections. Training is provided. This is an excellent ministry for couples or singles. At least two persons are always present when collections are counted. Most members of the ministry are on duty once a month.

Parishoners that help with computer data entry, folding and stuffing for mailings, bulletin inserts, telephone coverage, and general office work.
